Manchester School of Art staff members have graduated having completed their PhD studies alongside working full time.
Senior lecturers at Manchester School of Art, Dr Martha Lineham and Dr Jenny Eden, have completed their PhDs after studying alongside their full time work. The pair graduated alongside the rest of the 2025 Art & Performance cohort with a ceremony at Bridgewater Hall on Monday 14 July.
Speaking on the graduation, Dr Martha Lineham said: “Undertaking a PhD whilst working in a full time lecturing post at Manchester School of Art has been a big exchange of ideas, approaches and enthusiasm. Delighted to have qualified as a researcher and to be moving forward with my specialist creative practice in such a supportive environment”.
Dr Jenny Eden added: “Working on a PhD alongside full-time teaching was often intense, as expected, but manageable, insightful and hugely rewarding. It meant I had a unique opportunity to discuss and test various approaches to theory and practice with staff and students throughout my own learning, which benefitted the research and the students I was teaching”.
